Buses in Sweden
Timetables for buses in Sweden are available at Länstrafiken. Times are in Swedish time which is one hour after Finnish time. It is not possible to buy a ticket at Länstrafiken web site. If you want to take the bus from Haparanda, please choose the departure from Haparanda Tornio Travel center LTN.
You can only pay with a credit card in Swedish buses (no cash payment). Bussgods company located at Travel Center sells tickets with a credit card and Swedish crowns.
Buses in Finland
Timetables for buses in Finland are available at Matkahuolto web site. Departures are in Finnish time which is one hour ahead of Swedish time. You can buy the tickets at Matkahuolto web site. You need to choose the departure from Tornio.
Matkahuolto office is situated in Tornio (Teollisuuskatu 8-10, opening hours 8-16 Finnish time). They sell bus tickets and also train tickets. You can pay with credit card, in Euros and Swedish crowns. Most buses accept credit cards.
Another bus company is Onnibus. It offers services in most parts of Finland.
Kaupunkilinja traffics in the central town area of Tornio. The local bus in Haparanda is Ringlinjen and you can change from one to another at Travel Center or Rajalla-På Gränsen Shopping Center. The buses don´t run during school holidays.
If you are traveling by bicycle from the south to Tornio, take route 921 from Kemi. Arriving from the north you can take the E8 and from Rovaniemi the E75 to Tornio. There are cycle ways in several places.
In Sweden, there are no special cycling roads or maps. E4-highway from Luleå to Haparanda is not ideal for bikes because of the heavy traffic. We recommend to choose smaller roads. The northbound road 99 is suitable for bikes.

Kemi-Tornio Airport is nearby and there are several flights daily from Helsinki to Sea-Lapland. The flights are operated by Finnair. The airport taxi company Meri-Lapin Taksi takes you to TornioHaparanda.
From Lulea airport, you can take a bus to TornioHaparanda and from Oulu and Rovaniemi airports there are two ways, buss or train.
In Tornio there is a train station called Tornio Itäinen but only trains between Kolari and Kemi stop there. All trains stop at Kemi Railway station and you can continue from there by bus to HaparandaTornio. Finnish railroads are operated by state company VR. Find timetables and buy your ticket at their homepage.
The nearest railway stations in Sweden are in Boden and Luleå. Timetables and tickets are available at SJ homepage , where you can buy a combined train/bus ticket to HaparandaTornio.
